Looks are Deceiving

It's a bright and beautiful morning. The Sunshine is glorious and Spring has seemingly arrived. However, this is Michigan and looks are often deceiving. Even though the Sunshine has returned, the temperature is still hovering around 30. This is often the case with many things in life. The old cliche that tells us, "Not all that glitters is gold"... isn't wrong.

I am reminded of the first family that God created and put in the Garden of Eden. Life was good for Adam and Eve. However, it wasn't long before our adversary, the devil, came in with new plan for the family. Everything that Satan told Eve, sounded good. The bible says that the forbidden fruit of the forbidden tree was observed by Eve to be good for food, pleasant to the eye, and desired for wisdom. However, partaking of it led to sin being ushered into the world. Adam's rebellion was a willful transgression. Nothing they did had the appearance of ugly, or horror... It looked good, and they could rationalize the "why behind what".

Evil will rarely ever present itself to you as being evil. Satan himself is able to transform into an angel of light. "Lucifer" means light-bearer, shining one or morning star. In contrast, as Jesus was on earth at His first incarnation, the bible describes Him as "having no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."

Take heed in life and walk carefully through this world. 1 John 4:1 says: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try (test, examine, prove, scrutinize) the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone into the world." Don't get caught up with the beauty of first appearance but walk wisely because looks really are deceiving.
